Meet PHBunrab PH BunRab runs the Guinea Pig Rescue in her area. She finds homes for guinea pigs that have been turned in to local shelters or are otherwise abandoned. Her favorite pet tips? "Buy your pets plenty of toys! Rabbits, guinea pigs and hedgies all love plastic balls with bells in them, especially the bigger ones at least 2 to 6 inches in diameter. The piggles, buns and chinchillas also like wooden bird toys such as the kind that have several blocks of colored wood on a chain with a bell at the bottom. Hang them on the side of the cage, for hours of gnawing fun. Oh and don't forget, hedgies like soft catnip-filled cat toys!" She also reminds everyone to get his or her rabbits spayed or neutered. Male guinea pigs can be neutered, so that these social animals can live in groups without constantly having litters. Many people don't realize that two male guinea pigs can live together, and so can two male chinchillas. Chili and Sammy are too cute for words when they are snuggled together in their sleeping box. Bunrab's special interests include small exotic mammal pets in the classroom, and the dietary needs of small exotic mammals. |
